Lillian Avonell turns 8

It finally came!  The day Lily has been looking forward to for years!  Her 8th birthday!  Lily has been so excited to turn 8 so that she could be baptized a member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints ever since she witnessed her cousins baptism 3 years earlier.  Unfortunately, she would still have to wait a little longer for her baptism day, but I have been promising her a friends birthday party for her 8th birthday.  So we had big plans on her big day!

But before we get to that, let me tell you a little bit about 8 year old Lily.  Lily just finished 2nd grade at Woodruff Elementary.  Lily loves school.  This year she learned about space and has had a passion for it, and anything science really, ever since.  She has probably checked out and read every space book there is in the non fiction section of the library.  Lily is our endless good idea girl.  She comes up with all the ideas for parties, dinners, and holiday traditions for our family.  I'm so glad she is around to tell me what to do.  Lily also has a wonderful sense of humor, a kind heart and a sensitive soul.  I hope to keep her innocent as long as possible.  We love her so much and couldn't ask for a better first child in the whole universe!

Lily chose a Hawaiian Luau theme for her party and I am so glad!  It was so much fun!!!  Cory was still in South Africa and he thought he wouldn't make it home in time for her birthday, but he did!  He arrived right on her birthday!  What a great birthday surprise!

Here's our little hula birthday princess!  What a pretty girl!
We rented a giant bouncy water slide! So much fun!

We had plenty of snacks and drinks.  :)

I'm afraid we gave all the kids sugar overload!
Dad getting presented with a laie and thanked for coming! LOL!  It was quite hilarious!

 Happy birthday to you!
We are so glad that our closer but not so close family does the long drive to support our kids on their special days.  It means a lot to them.

 Love this baby!
 Lovely ladies!
 Present time.

Everyone enjoyed the waterslide and luckily there were no injuries so I didn't get sued!  It was used non stop the entire time!

Grandpa showing Lily the ropes on her new telescope.

There were also the usual fun things to do in the backyard.  Like floating the river.
And swinging on the crazy swing.

These two just went back and forth down the river.  A regular old Tom Sawyer and Huck Finn team.
Lily's party was  a huge success!  Lots of fun!  We were sure exhausted afterwards!  Especially dad, who had just flown over 30 hours to be there!  We love our little Lily bug!!!
