Perth: Hillary's Harbour

Oh, Perth, the city at the end of the earth.  Perth is probably one of the most isolated big cities in the world.  But I would say it is worth the trip.  The drive from Kalgoorlie is about 6 hours.  It pretty muc follows the Goldfields pipeline.  Long ago, C.Y. O'Connor built the Goldfields Pipeline, one of the worlds longest water mains, making it possible to live out in Kalgoorlie.  O'Connor endured heaps of criticism that his project and life's work wouldn't be successful.  When it was complete, it didn't appear to be working and the poor guy committed suicide. Only to have the pipeline begin to work a few days later making it a massive success.  There's a little history for ya.

Here we are enduring the drive.

Aww, little Sof!  Such a great travel baby!

Will watching Toy Story on the lap top...talk about spoiled!
The girl party in the back.

 Making candy necklaces.

 Eating the candy necklaces.  :)
 More sleeping!

We arrived in Perth late afternoon.  So we just settled into our accommodations, ate some dinner and went to bed.

The next day we were ready to hit the beach.  Even if it was winter here.  :)

We decided to check out Hillary's Harbour, an adorable, kid friendly harbour with Sorrento Beach on the opposite side if you wanted to enjoy some waves.  Today, however, we didn't.  :)

Me and my girls ready to go to the beach in our matchy matchy skirts and shirts...

 Cute matchy matchy sisters!

Hillary's Harbour!  Can you believe that as we were driving to this beach the sky was full of grey clouds and it was a down pour?
But by the time we got there, it had turned into a beautiful beach day!  Getting sunscreened.

 Too cold for Cory!

Poor Will...I forgot to pack his swim trunks!  So he started out in a diaper and shorts.  Then we turned into those people letting your kid swim pantsless in public!  Oh dear....it's amazing what you thought you'd never do, but then do do.

Wow, finally, destructo boy Will let the girls actually build more than three towers on one sandcastle.  It's a miracle.

Success!  He couldn't resist forever, but at least he let them finish for once!
Sofie was not loving her first day at the beach...it was quite windy.
There was this playground right on the beach.  Fantastic!
Lily wrote a poem in the sand.

 Ava joined in.

Will, loving being commando by now.

The kids couldn't get enough of the water!

It was a fantastic morning and great start to our Perth trip.
