The first weekend of the kids July school holidays, the city of Kalgoorlie put on this massive Kids Fest. There were celebrity singers and kids icons dressed in costume, like Angelina Ballerina. There were so many activities for the kids to do and the best part of the whole thing is that it was completely free!!! It was ran entirely by volunteers and all of the local companies just donated their services and time. It was amazing!!! I was so impressed by the sheer amount of volunteers and people who so willingly gave of their time to make this huge event happen. It was so great for the kids!
There were so many different tents. This one was the little kids tent. We hung out there for a while, then Cory and Lily moved on to some tents for the older kids while we stayed here. I could not get Will to move on. It didn't help that he was so ready for a nap.
They had so many things to do, in just this one little tent!
Will became quite attached to this fire truck, it was very difficult to get him away.
Oh, by the way, it had like a super hero theme to it. That is why the girls are wearing their super hero capes. And later you'll see so many fun super hero props and decorations all over the place. Which the high councilmen in our ward and his two daughters made all of them. They are so talented and so generous with their time and talents.
Still hanging out with the fire truck.
Finding sea shells in the water.
Here is Ava in a huge long tunnel.
There were these fun climbing obstacles.
Will finally decided to ditch the fire truck.
But he came right back to it!
All this time Lily and Cory were in the older kids' tent and there was so much to do. Lily made Ava and herself a super hero button. She did a sand art picture and much more. It was incredible how much there was to do.
Here are some of the super hero displays. Superman. My visiting teaching partner made this one.
Spiderman.
While Lily was going crazy in the science tent, Ava went to ride the merry-go-round and Will fell asleep in the stroller.
Here's Ava waiting to go through the bouncey train obstacle course. Lucky for me, some girls from our ward just happened to be going in too, so they helped her through it so I didn't have to squish myself into it!
Here's the bat mobile. Our high councilmen made it.
Here's the tall tower that Lily built with the Gotham City building blocks.
Then she karate chopped it down.
Here's Ava in the Jail. I guess she was being a villain, instead of a super hero at the moment! LOL!
Super woman!
Will woke up from his cat nap, and he loved these things!!!
Here is a video of the girls play dough volcanoes erupting.
Here are the girls climbing in the spider web.
We finally made it out of the tents to the fields that were just filled with activities as well!
There was a petting zoo, which only Lily enjoyed. And then there was the snake whisperer. Here is brave Lily with the creepy snake! She was so brave!
That snake just kept creeping further and further down!
So then I got this great idea to get a family photo with the snake. Ava took off running the other direction, Will kept trying to squirm away and well, Lily is picking her nose, of course. So much for a family photo!
So we were done with the snake, but where did the snake whisperer go?
He totally just walked away and left us there with this snake on us!!!
Now I'm starting to panic!
And Cory just walks away, leaving me with the snake, to find the guy! I'm kinda freaking out here!!!
Oh, phew, now he's back and he can get this snake off of me!
And on that note, we decided it was time to go home. It was such a fun day and we are so thankful to all of the volunteers who gave of their time and talents to help all kids have a truly festive day!

That looks like so much fun. That is incredible that it was all free and done by volunteers. Love Will and that fire truck and I can't believe that you got left with the snake all alone.
