Happy 4th of July

So although we are in Australia, we are still Americans!  And we are not alone.  There are a few other American families and half American families here in town.  So our friends the Tomlinson's (who the dad is American and the mom is French) threw a July 4th party at their home.  We were excited to celebrate our nation's birthday and the freedom that we all enjoy all over the world.  That freedom that isn't America's freedom it is God's freedom that He has allowed us to have in order for us to truly learn for ourselves.  It was so much fun!

Unfortunately, I was having so much fun that I wasn't taking any pictures.  :)  We had hamburgers and hot dogs (or as close to hot dogs as you can get over here), a very classic American meal.  It was delicious!  I made some festive desserts to share, which of course included a cake that looked like a flag.  Well, mine was a fruit pizza, but still.  I bought all the strawberries that were available in Kalgoorlie that day, and it only amounted to 1/2 a kilo, but I paid a fair amount for them too. It didn't help that Will kept eating them before I could even make it to the register to pay. But it was worth it for the end result.  :) God bless America (and their cheap food prices!).

This was on the table.  Looks kind of Texan, but that is alright.  That's about as American as you can get.  :)
Haha, we made the missionaries sing the Star Sprangled Banner National Anthem.   Since most of them are American.  Only poor little Sister Bailey is Australian, but she sang it well!  ;)

Unfortunately, fireworks are illegal, but sparklers and party poppers are sold year round. So we had a hay day with those at least.  Lily, Ava and Will all loved doing sparklers.

I tried to dress all the kids in festive clothes.  Lily realized she didn't have an American shirt and I tried to just tell her to wear red, white and blue and that will be good.  But, of course, that wasn't good enough for her.  So I let her take one of her white shirts and design her own American shirt.  So here she is modeling it.  I just love how she spelled America "Amerku"  She is so great!
This is the next day, but I thought what says Independence day more than watermelon?  Will was so happy to be united with his long lost love!

We are so grateful for men and women all over the world who have fought to preserve our God given rights and freedoms.  We are so grateful to be able to enjoy those rights and privileges. We will never forget those wonderful people who have died for our freedoms.  God bless the USA!!!
