Getting Sporty with the Locals

So everyone who lives here in Kalgoorlie keeps telling me that we got to find things to do to make it bearable to live here.  Personally, I have been nothing but pleased with Kalgoorlie, the people, the size and even the small amount of shops available.  I actually find it comforting that when my kids need new clothes, I can go to Target or Kmart and buy what ever they have there and that is that.  The lack of choices I find comforting.  Anyways, some of our new friends have talked Cory and I in to joining some of their sports teams.

I tried field hockey and it was awesome!!  I have never played before so I just kind of hung back on the defensive side of things to observe how to play and to get in the other teams way when they tried to score.  It was so much fun!  It brought back all that love and adrenaline of team sports in my past and I definitely think it will be how I will "survive" Kalgoorlie.

What I think is more amazing is that these new friends of ours have talked Cory into playing soccer with them.  I don't think they realize what an amazing accomplishment that is or what a boring person Cory was in his former life.  I decided not to tell them, because moving to a new town you can be anything you want to be!  Now maybe everyone will call us those fun Americans! :)  Anyways here are some pictures of Cory playing soccer and us playing at the park watching him.

Here is the field where I played field hockey and Cory is out there playing soccer, you can't really see him, but he's out there.
Here's the playground right by the field.  Lily doing the pole.

Will climbing up the latter all by himself!  He is getting so big!

Ava has been on this overall kick.  I think this may have been the third day straight of her wearing them.

Lily doing the monkey bars.  This is a recent accomplishment for her.
Here are the girls being cheerleaders for Cory.

It was a fun night for all and we are excited to be the fun, sporty Americans in Kalgoorlie! :)
