Australia, Australia, Australia!!!

So we made it to Australia and we have been here for nearly a month!!  I can't believe it!  It feels like so long since we left!  I wish I had been more technologically savvy and kept this up, because I have to much to write!!!

Lets start with the flight!  I have zero pictures of this, and it really wasn't something that I wanted to remember.  As I anticipated flying over 20 hours straight with a 5 year old, 3 year old and 1 year old, by myself, I kept feeling the same feelings of anxiety and fear that I have felt before each of my labors and deliveries of my three children.  You want it to happen and you want the end result (either a beautiful baby or being with your husband again after a couple months separation) but the only way to get there is something you do not want to do!  So I knew it was going to be long and miserable, but there really are no words to describe just how long and how miserable it was!  Half way through, I thought, "This is it, I'm never going home because there is no way I am doing this again!"  Also as with childbirth, I had a beautiful fantasy in my mind about how it would go and that all these magical things would happen to make it a wonderful experience.  Like I would suddenly have angel children and I would suddenly be the most fabulous and patient mother in the world.  And as with child birth, it did not live up to my fantasy, but we made it through in one piece, it wasn't pretty but we made it!  And we got our desired end result!   And also, as with childbirth, I have already forgotten a lot of the details about just how bad it really was and would definitely do it again!  Just a little side note, my kids really were fabulous especially considering the circumstances, it is just a really friggin long flight!!!

But then we got to be here!!!!  Perth, Australia!!!

This is the whole crew at the beach, on my 30th birthday!!!  It was a great day!  Our hotel was like a five minute walk from there!  After that awful flight, it was so nice to spend a few days, sleeping, swimming and going to the beach!  It was so nice and relaxing and most importantly it was so nice to back with the love of my life, Cory!!  It was way too long to be apart!  We all missed him so much! Especially Will!  It was so funny because for the first few hours, Will wouldn't even make eye contact with Cory, but then after that wore off, Will would cry any time Cory left the room!  It was so cute!  And even now he loves to just follow Cory around doing their manly things together.

Here is our first day at the beach.

We built a sandman, it was supposed to be like a snowman.

 We buried the girls!
A couple different ways!

Lots of playing in the sand. :)
Lily was the only one brave enough to get in!  It was cold!!!
Ava trying to slide like a penguin on the sand.

Look at this diva ready to go to the pool at the hotel.

I even got to do some relaxing since there was another pair of eyes around to make sure no kids were drowning!  Not my best angel, but it was nice and relaxing!
The girls enjoying the pool side service.

We didn't last long in the water, they don't heat any pools here.

Sunset at the beach on my birthday.

Will being a total stud in his towel after a bath.  What a man!

The jet lag kept catching up with us!
 More fun at the beach!
Naturally coming from the snow, Lily did a snow angel in the sand.
 Such beautiful beaches!
After our nice stay at Perth, we had to all pile into the car and drive 6 hours into the desert to our new home in Kalgoorlie.  It was quiet depressing, but we were all anxious to get settled in our new home and start our new life in Australia.  We had a lot of adjusting to do!

Poor Will, just totally crashed on the kitchen floor.  Its hard adjusting to a new time zone and a new place!

Stay tuned for lots more posts!

  2. You guys have already had so many amazing adventures I can't believe its only been a month! I also recognize the ” brave face” through your writing. I want to know how many breakdowns you've had so far. I was a mess for about 2 months when we moved and you have SO many more changes! I hope you're adapting quickly, but its ok if you're not! (jos not Devin)

    1. Joslyn, I have seriously been very emotionally unstable since I got here! I am averaging a once a week complete melt down. If I can get through tomorrow, then I will have made it a whole week without crying! Though I came really close yesterday, but I fought it off! I think that's a break through! Thanks for the support! We love you guys!

    1. Thanks, Katie! It really is a miracle we made it! My favorite comments were, "We were all just asking ourselves how you are still smiling?" (Probably from insanity!;)) And I waited until everyone got off the plane before I even tried to move any one or do any thing and someone walking past said, "Wow, it looks like you've been there for weeks!" Meaning it was so messy!! Haha! Oh well, hope you and your sweet family are staying warm in freezing Utah!

    1. I know, I really wanted to see you guys, I was trying to squeeze it in between packing and still trying to live! I wish we could have connected, but that's okay. Cory got offered a job so we thought, why not? It is good timing since our kids are still little, we thought it sounded like a fun adventure! Come visit! LOL! But seriously, you're welcome to!
