Will's Hair Cut-It was about time!!!

So for weeks now I have tried hinting that Will needed a hair cut and that I wanted Cory to do it.  The hinting didn't work so I finally out right told Cory that he needed to cut Will's hair.  Cory disagreed, he thought Will's long hair looked cute.  So Will went another couple weeks without a hair cut.  Finally, I said I was just going to go for it and do it myself and, of course, that made Cory junp to it, since he wanted to stop me from really screwing it up.  I still think I would have been able to do just fine, I had read some tutorials, but I am still glad Cory did it.

Here is Will with the largest watermelon from our garden, I wanted to share this photo because, wow that watermelon is huge, but also so you all could see his nasty mullet hanging over the collar of his shirt back there.
And here are a few others of the cute little watermelon lover.
Isn't that watermelon amazing?  But I digress, this has nothing to do with the haircut, so back to the haircut.
Here is Will, ready for the first chop.  We wanted to cut it into a nasty mullet or mohawk and send the pics to the grandparents, but neither Cory or I were confident enough that we could come back from that! Next time! ;)

Half way through. This guy was pretty hard to keep still.  The whole process took so long!  We had a show on and that is a wafer cookie dipped in Nutella in his hand.

And viola, here is the finished product.

He would not hold still for a photo after all that, hence the blur, but what a handsome guy! :)

Freddy Krugar-Little Girl Style

The girls went over to the Prall's the other day.  (The Pralls are a family in our branch and also Cory's boss) Their 16 year old daughter, Heidi, is an art student and she is also an art teacher.  She is great with helping Lily do crafts.  This particular day Heidi was helping Lily paint a mask.  I went to pick Lily up and she wasn't quite done with her mask, so Heidi helped Ava make one too.  Lily also made me a mask while she was there.  I loved that she was looking out for me!

Anyways, the end result was quite scary to be honest, but the girls don't think so, they think they look beautiful.  So I just have to share the frightening pictures of my precious little girls!

This one is Lily, if you couldn't tell, and she really should have had a shirt on, oops!  Makes it all the more frightening!

 Ahhh!  Ava, very scary!

Here they both are hugging.  Once again, wish Lily had a shirt on, but eh.  Is this not so scary though?  Seriously!  They would be walking around the house in these things and I would see them and it would startle me, like genuinely startle me!
Here is the pretty butterfly mask Lily made for me. Much better looking, right?

Hopefully, these photos won't haunt you in your sleep!

My Little Koala Crew

So we have some perfect climbing trees that are just the right size for my little monkeys.  Unfortunately they are on the other side of our fence in the front yard, right next to the road.  But these little koalas still climb in them after school occasionally.

Here are my cute little climbing koala bears.

Every Day Life

So here are some random pictures of things that have been going on with us down under.

So our mode of transportation these days is a double jogger and a little pink bike.  And it's not so bad, except on super hot days.  After a really hot ride home from school one day, Lily just laid out on the grass once she got home, so all the other kids had to copy her.

We always play on the playground at Lily's school when we drop her off and pick her up.  It's great fun. :)  Here is Will hiding during hide and seek.
There is also our favorite play ground on our way home from school, that we stop and play at a lot.  Here is Will chasing our new friend, Mason's dog.

The park is surrounded by posts, probably so that no one will drive their cars on the grass.  Here are the kids sitting on the posts.

One of Ava's class mates had her come over for his birthday celebration.  The frosting on the cupcakes was really red!  Look at Ava's funny faces!

Look at Will's cute little face!
The girls thought that Will would look great with a pony tail, so we tried it out.

 Pretty cute!
I caught Will on camera in the pink blingy cowgirl hat!

He looks pretty adorable, in my opinion!

So there are a few things that are different down under than they are where I come from.  One of the many is that the carts at the grocery stores, which are called trolleys (another difference!), are so hard to push and control.  Every time I'd go to the store I would get a major core workout just trying to keep my trolley from hitting anyone else.  I couldn't figure it out, but then one day it dawned on me that all the wheels move and in the states only two wheels move.  It is incredible the difference it makes!  Anyways, another difference is that the crows sound like goats.  I couldn't figure out why I would hear goats all the time, oh because they are crows.  So I recorded one.  It's a little windy at the beginning, but the goat crow is clear as day.

That is about all from the every day life down under, for now!

Lily's Big Day

So Lily had a big day on Friday.  Her class was in charge of the entertainment item for the school assembly on Friday.  So they all made chicken wings and beaks and they danced and sang the Funky Chicken.  It was quite adorable!  I got to go and help the kids make their wings in class a few days before the assembly which Lily also thought was great.  I'm glad that she isn't embarrassed of me--yet! :)

Here's Lily all chicken-a-fied ready to sing and dance.

And here is some of the performance, Lily is on the far left in the front row.  It's not great...the filming job, not the song!  The song and dance are fabulous!

Here's her whole group up there.

Then after their great performance, Lily received a Merit Award.  Here she is accepting her award. She's the only one not in uniform, since she was a chicken!

Here she is with her award.  It was presented to her for settling into a new school with ease and confidence.  It also said, Lillian, you are an enthusiastic learner and a pleasure to teach.  Keep it up!
We are so proud of our little enthusiastic learning chicken! :)

Camera Clean Up

I copy this blog post idea from my sister in law, Joslyn, because I think it is the most clever way of posting the every day stuff that doesn't really go together or wasn't really an event.  But it's still part of my life that I want to remember and document.

So a few weeks ago we made a friend at Lily's school!  I say we because she (the mom) has kids for my kids to play with.  I decided to be social and have her over for a play date and it was so much fun!  Her name is Allie and she has four kids.  She has a 6 or 7 year old boy who is in the class room next to Lily's at school, which is how we met, both waiting for our kids and both the only two moms who didn't know anyone else because we had both just moved to Kalgoorlie.  Allie moved from Victoria, which is clear on the other side of Australia, so a pretty big move for her also.  Then she has a 4 year old girl, Annabell, a 2 year old boy, Isaac, and a 10 month old little girl, Natalie.  Allie is an absolutely beautiful and generous person and her children are all adorable and I am so glad to have met her.

Here are a few pictures of our kids playing together.

If you couldn't tell, they all had a great time together.  :)

Here are some other random photos of the kids.  Here is Will, still a little sleepy after his Sunday nap.  I had to take a picture because I thought he looked like such a stud.
Here is Lily in the pool with her "freaky" hair do.  She says that when she would swim in the summer with her cousin Wyatt and she would do this with her hair, he would scream and swim away because it freaked him out.  I think she looks pretty cute!

Here is one of Will's favorite past times in the backyard, shaking this poor little tree.  I apologize for my role in this film.  Ugh, who likes to hear their own voice on camera??  Not me!

I took this picture and then realized that this is probably one of the last times that they could all take a bath together, in fact, they're probably already too old for it!  But they were having so much fun!

So my new friend, Allie, who I mentioned earlier was kind enough to come and take us shopping with her, since I don't have a car, it's hard to get shopping in since the shops all close when Cory gets home from work.  We were just having some fun going to the Op Shop, which is a second hand store. Ava spotted this amazingly beautiful hat and I knew we had to get it for her!

 Isn't it perfect???
So then the next day, for some reason we decided to go to the other Op Shop on the other side of town, and this amazingly beautiful cowgirl hat was there, and once again it couldn't be passed up.  Have you ever seen so much pink bling in two hats?   I love it!!
Here's both of them saying, yeehaw!  I keep trying to get a picture of Will wearing one of the hats, but he always takes it off before I can get it, as if he knows that would be extremely embarrassing.
But here is one photo that he doesn't seem to think is too embarrassing.  Will has been spending a lot of time naked out in the back yard.
I took the girls shopping with me on Saturday because I was feeling generous with my "me" time.  Sad that my me time has become grocery shopping, but they had a lot of fun putting on some of the silly hats and things at the store.

 Happy St. Patrick's Day, early!
 And a happy Easter also!
That about wraps up some of our random happenings down under!
